Noreen attends BAME conference
The conference was held on the 13th July 2017 and focussed on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
In 2015 an initiative was launched by the government to recruit 3 million apprentices by 2020 which included an pledge to recruit Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities by 20%.
Key areas of the conference covered a variety of organisations/people and learners who gave an insight on how to overcome barriers to promote apprenticeships to communities and recruit more learners. The term “unconscious bias’s” was discussed regularly, especially when recruiting learners from diverse backgrounds/communities and poorer areas.
Overall the conference was a very important event to attend as this is something we are keen to promote here at Vortex!
Noreen Ignites First Utility’s Future
This week Noreen and the team have began enrolling the learners for the Ignite Customer Service Excellence Programme.
This is an exciting time for both Vortex and First Utility and for the next 12 months Noreen will develop her learners to achieve their Customer Service Practitioner Qualification.
Bluebird Learner of the Month – Denise White
Roxanne awarded her learner Denise ‘Learner of the Month’ for all of the effort and hard work she has put in since she began her course. Well done Denise!
Roxanne Supports the Bluebird Staff with Mental Health Awareness
On Friday 9th June, Roxanne led an intense training session with the Bluebird staff to highlight a sensitive and very important topic of Mental Health Awareness. The feedback from the learners was fantastic! Well done to those who took part and of course our very own, Roxanne!
“At the beginning of the training the participants said their prior knowledge about the topic was 1 (not good) and by the end of the training they said their knowledge improved to 8 and some to 9 (very good).”

Roxanne takes part in the Dementia Bus to support her learners at Bluebird Care
Roxanne joined Carers from Bluebird Care North Tyneside to experience first-hand what it is like to have dementia, when they stepped aboard the Virtual Dementia Bus, as part of a training session on April 12th.
The Mobile Virtual Dementia Tour is a unique experience which enables participants to see the world from the perspective of someone living with dementia. The tours aim is to encourage participants to empathise with those with dementia and families, in order for them to adapt their current approaches and practice.
As Roxanne is working closely with Bluebird staff, this training gave her in depth experience of how she can support her learners with Dementia awareness.
Roxanne said :
“It was the best training I have had for a long time, the experience was only a few minutes but the learning and the effect of this experience will stay with me for the rest of my life”.

Vortex Launch our Customer Service Excellence Programme at First Utility HQ!
On 23rd May Clare and Noreen launched the Customer Service Excellence Programme with First Utility known as Ignite.
This programme has been strategically developed with First Utility’s senior managers to meet their strategic aims. Noreen is the designated Training Consultant, with vast Customer Service Training experience, and will be supporting each individual throughout their learner journey to ensure they excel!
Vortex make it onto the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers!
Another great achievement for Team Vortex! Following our successful matrix assessment we are now officially an ESFA provider of Apprentice Standards. We have passed the rigorous due diligence process to deliver for Levy paying employers; this is a massive step for Vortex Training and now paves the way to allow us to help more businesses and learners.
